Amid Jair Bolsonaro's attempt to distance himself from his friend Fabrício Queiroz, arrested last week, the Planalto Palace refused to answer whether Frederick Wassef acts or has acted as the president's lawyer.

Queiroz was found by the police last Thursday at a house belonging to Wassef in Atibaia, in the interior of São Paulo.
"The Presidential Palace will not comment on the matter," responded the Secretariat of Communication (Secom) late Monday afternoon. The report questioned the Presidential Palace on Friday morning, a day after the arrest of the former military police officer and former aide to Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (Republicanos-RJ), the president's son. Wassef was also contacted by phone and message, but did not respond.
Contrary to Wassef, who represented Flávio and claimed to also be his father's lawyer, lawyer Karina Kufa released a statement on Thursday affirming that her firm is responsible for all actions involving President Jair Bolsonaro, including the criminal case investigating the stabbing suffered by the president during the 2018 election campaign.
