PL is working with Hugo Motta to nominate Eduardo Bolsonaro for key committees in the Chamber of Deputies.
The party admits that Eduardo's appointment to Creden was a response to the PT's request to seize his passport.
247 - The Liberal Party (PL) began, this Monday (10), discussions with Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), president of the Chamber of Deputies, to define its nominations in the parliamentary committees of the House. The information was published by the newspaper The Globe.
The leader of the largest party in the House, Sóstenes Cavalcante (PL-RJ), will be the first to meet with Motta, who is leading the round of talks between the parties to define the leadership of the committees. The PL is not giving up the presidency of the Constitution and Justice Committee (CCJ) and the Foreign Relations and National Defense Committee (Creden), the latter of which is intended to be chaired by Congressman Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP).
According to the report, the party's move comes amid an offensive by the PT (Workers' Party), which requested the Supreme Federal Court (STF) to seize Eduardo Bolsonaro's passport. Minister Alexandre de Moraes is still awaiting an opinion from the Attorney General's Office (PGR) before deciding on the request. Given this scenario, PL (Liberal Party) leaders consider the nomination of the congressman to the Creden (National Committee for the Defense of National Rights) a form of retaliation.
"If Alexandre de Moraes takes away his passport, that's when we'll really put him in charge of the Foreign Relations Committee. Just to spite him," a congressman reportedly told Lauro Jardim's column.
After the conversation with Cavalcante, Hugo Motta will continue negotiations with the PT, which will have the second choice in the distribution of the committees, and subsequently with the other parties. The final decision on the leadership of the committees is scheduled to be made next Thursday.
