247 - Brazil's Attorney General's Office (PGR) will investigate the reasons for the change in command at the Federal Police Superintendency in Rio de Janeiro. The case will be analyzed by Supreme Court Justice Celso de Mello. inquiry An investigation has already been opened against Jair Bolsonaro, which is looking into accusations by former minister Sergio Moro that the president attempted to improperly interfere with the Federal Police.
After the Supreme Court suspended the appointment of Alexandre Ramagem (linked to the Bolsonaro family) as director-general of the Federal Police, Bolsonaro appointed Rolando Alexandre de Souza – considered Ramagem's right-hand man – to the position. The new director's first action was to change the leadership in Rio de Janeiro, where the Bolsonaro family has an interest in hindering investigations against political allies and family members – such as Flávio Bolsonaro, investigated in the Queiroz case, and groups related to the Marielle Franco case.
Sergio Moro had already reported Jair Bolsonaro's desire to control the Federal Police in Rio de Janeiro. In August 2019, Bolsonaro forced the departure of the then superintendent of Rio de Janeiro, delegate Ricardo Saadi. Furthermore, in one of the messages delivered by Moro to the Federal Police during his testimony on Sunday, the 3rd, Bolsonaro emphatically stated... "I want Rio".
