247 - The Federal Police (PF) launched an operation this Thursday (8) targeting Jair Bolsonaro's former advisor, Filipe G. Martins, after accusations of his involvement in the coup plot of January 8, the newspaper highlights. The GlobeThe arrest warrant was issued as part of an investigation that includes the delivery of a coup-mongering document to the then-president, as well as a racist gesture during a live broadcast.

Filipe G. Martins, known for his activity on social media in support of the previous government, disappeared from digital platforms after his defeat in the elections. However, investigations revealed his presence at meetings in the Palácio da Alvorada (Presidential Palace), where he allegedly delivered the aforementioned document to Bolsonaro.

According to information from journalist Andréia Sadi of GloboNews, Martins has already been arrested.

According to information obtained by the January 8th Parliamentary Inquiry Commission and through the Access to Information Law, Martins was present at the Alvorada Palace on four occasions in December 2022, after Bolsonaro's electoral defeat to Lula. In these meetings, he allegedly delivered a draft outlining supposed interference by the Judiciary in the Executive branch and proposing new elections, as well as the arrest of authorities.

The investigation also points to Filipe G. Martins' presence at meetings in the Ministry of Defense, intensifying suspicions about his role in the coup plot.

Both Martins' defense and the defense of Bolsonaro and Mauro Cid, the former aide who filed the complaint, have refrained from commenting on the accusations so far.

Note from the Federal Police – The Federal Police launched Operation Tempus Veritatis this Thursday (February 8th) to investigate a criminal organization that acted in an attempt to stage a coup d'état and abolish the Democratic Rule of Law, in order to gain political advantage by keeping the then President of the Republic in power.

Thirty-three search and seizure warrants, four preventive arrest warrants, and 48 precautionary measures other than imprisonment are being executed. These measures include prohibiting contact with other investigated individuals, prohibiting them from leaving the country, requiring the surrender of passports within 24 hours, and suspending them from holding public office. Federal police officers are carrying out the judicial measures, issued by the Supreme Federal Court, in the states of Amazonas, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso do Sul, Ceará, Espírito Santo, Paraná, Goiás, and the Federal District.

At this stage, the investigations indicate that the group under investigation divided itself into operational cells to disseminate information about fraud in the 2022 Presidential Elections, even before the election took place, in order to enable and legitimize a military intervention, operating as a digital militia.

The first axis consisted of constructing and propagating the version of fraud in the 2022 Elections, through the fallacious dissemination of vulnerabilities in the electronic voting system, a discourse reiterated by those under investigation since 2019 and which persisted even after the results of the second round of the 2022 election.

The second line of action consisted of carrying out acts to support the abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law, through a coup d'état, with the support of military personnel possessing the knowledge and tactics of special forces in a politically sensitive environment.

The Brazilian Army monitors the execution of some warrants, in support of the Federal Police.

The facts investigated constitute, in theory, the crimes of criminal organization, violent abolition of the Democratic State of Law and coup d'état.
