The Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB) defends Orlando Silva in party program.

"I will go to the very end to defend my honor and the 90-year history of a party that has never been involved in scandal," says the Minister of Sport.

The Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB) will defend Minister Orlando Silva in its party program to be broadcast nationally tonight. The Minister of Sports himself, who is the target of accusations of involvement in an alleged embezzlement scheme, emphasizes in the party broadcast that the PCdoB has been the victim of "false accusations" in a "clumsy attempt" to tarnish its history. "The importance that the Ministry of Sports has achieved through the work of the PCdoB bothers many people," he states. "In recent days, our party has been attacked with false accusations, originating from a person wanted by the Justice system. A clumsy attempt to damage not only the party's history, but me as well," he adds. The minister is referring to military police officer João Dias Ferreira, the author of the recent accusations.

In the party statement, the minister emphasizes that, after the accusations, he sought judicial authorities and gave statements to contribute to clarifying the facts. "I will go to the very end to defend my honor and the 90-year history of a party that has never been involved in scandal," he affirms. "I will do whatever it takes for the truth to prevail. Our party is a party of struggle and we will not back down," he adds. The minister is also defended in the party program by the national president of the PCdoB, Renato Rabelo, according to whom the party does not tolerate any type of misconduct. "All and any accusations against the PCdoB have proven, sooner or later, to be lies, accusations without proof, failed attempts to attack the image of the fastest-growing party."

The party president also emphasizes that the PCdoB has never been intimidated by any struggle, recalling the military dictatorship. "We have always resisted. We will not be intimidated now by those who want to tarnish our history," he criticizes. Minister Orlando Silva is also defended by an actress, who opens the party's piece. In about a minute, she emphasizes that, in 90 years, the PCdoB has never been involved in any kind of scandal. "That is why we cannot allow our history to be tarnished by alleged accusations published in the press. They are nothing more than lies and slander made by a citizen being prosecuted by the Justice system. A serious accusation without evidence," she states. "A desperate attempt to put the PCdoB in the common pit of corruption and to attack the image of the party that is growing and strengthening the most in Brazil."

The PCdoB party program also features the participation of city councilor Netinho de Paula (SP) and federal deputy Manuela D'Ávila (RS), who advocate for improvements in the cities of São Paulo and Porto Alegre. The party document also cites writers Jorge Amado and Carlos Drummond de Andrade, painter Cândido Portinari, architect Oscar Niemeyer, and politician Luís Carlos Prestes as figures who contributed to the history of the party.
