Read below the statement released by the leader of the PCdoB on Wednesday night:

The Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB) wants to restore the role of parliament in the election of the Chamber's leadership.

Brazil is experiencing a very unique moment. It is going through a serious political, economic, and institutional crisis. The imbalance of power is severe and has serious consequences for the democratic rule of law.

It is in this context that the election for the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Deputies will take place.

We believe it is necessary to establish a sincere and transparent pact between the parliamentary majority and minority in order to restore the role of parliament.

We advocate that the composition of the Board be based on a minimum platform that respects the procedures, rules of procedure, and party pluralism of parliament.

The PCdoB and its combative parliamentary group are guided by the defense of balance and harmony between the branches of government, and by the defense of democracy.

Based on this democratic reference, we will engage in dialogue with our political field and with broader sectors, including the current Speaker of the House, Rodrigo Maia (DEM-RJ).

The PCdoB caucus maintains its agenda in defense of a pluralistic and democratic political reform and in opposition to the pension and labor reforms.
