247 - Federal deputy Jandira Feghali (PCdoB-RJ) announced this Sunday, the 22nd, that the PCdoB, after meeting for two and a half days this weekend, decided to call for the union of left-wing parties in the first round, in order to defeat any coup-supporting candidate.

"This meeting reaffirmed more than ever the need to seek this unity," Jandira announced. "This is the moment for us to call upon the left to seek this unity," she declared, warning of the serious economic and social crisis in the country after the coup and under the Temer government.

According to the congresswoman, the "central task" in the coming days will be "to provoke the PT, PDT, PSB, and PSOL itself to unite in the first round." This task will also fall to Manuela D'Ávila, the party's pre-candidate for president. The party has not withdrawn its pre-candidacy, but emphasizes that it will work towards unity.

"We understand the legitimacy of each candidate, I understand everyone's tactics, but it's important that at this moment we think about Brazil," Jandira adds. She emphasizes that this is a "very strong call, pressured by this Brazilian reality, which we truly need to consider now."

"We want Lula free, as a candidate. The PT, which is the largest left-wing party in Latin America and has Lula leading in the polls, needs to take on this process at this moment and greatly help build this unified process. The PDT also needs to rethink its position, and the PSB needs to be with us," he urged.

She reminds voters that they will be casting their ballots in eight weeks. "We need to make voters believe again that Brazil has a way forward, that it has a future," she concludes.
