247 - Senator Otto Alencar (PSD-BA) defended this Thursday (2) that a process be opened in the Ethics Council against Marcos do Val (Podemos-ES) to investigate his participation in an alleged coup attempt with the knowledge of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), reports the Dashboard from Folha de S.Paulo.

Veja magazine published that Do Val allegedly participated in a meeting at the Alvorada Palace with Bolsonaro and former congressman Daniel Silveira (PTB-RJ), in which both supposedly invited him to participate in a coup plot. The idea was to secretly record Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes in order to extract a statement that would pave the way for annulling the 2022 elections.

"Something needs to happen. I advocate for an immediate opening of proceedings in the Ethics Committee. He needs to explain himself," Alencar maintains.

The senator also says that Do Val has been involved in other disreputable episodes with other members of parliament.
