247 - The opposition filed, this Monday (9), the request to summon the presidents of the Federal Chamber and the Senate, Eduardo Cunha (PMDB-RJ), and Renan Calheiros (PMDB-AL), respectively, to provide clarifications to the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) of Petrobras, which investigates cases of corruption in the company.

In addition to Renan and Cunha, the request signed by congresswoman Eliziane Gama (PPS-MA) also asks that the CPI hear another 47 politicians who appear on the list of investigations accepted by the Supreme Federal Court (STF) last week. The request, however, will only be analyzed next Thursday (12), when an administrative session will be held.

The Senate president was cited in a plea bargain testimony given by money launderer Alberto Youssef as being one of the members of the "political core" of a corruption scheme at Petrobras. Eduardo Cunha was also cited as having benefited from transfers of funds diverted from contracts with the state-owned company.
"It is credible that it would be very unlikely that many of these political agents not only were not fully aware that the funds passed on to them came from undue advantages paid to directors and high-ranking officials of Petrobras, but that they also acted to continue the criminal scheme," said Eliziane.
