Mexican billionaire Ricardo Salinas, who is considering buying the Ba da Felicidade (a Brazilian bar/restaurant), is offering R$200 for a lecture by the former president.

After a week trying to contain the crisis caused by the increase in assets of the Chief of Staff, Antonio Palocci, former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will travel to Cuba and Venezuela next week. Before visiting his Venezuelan friend Hugo Chávez and likely meeting with Fidel Castro, the former Cuban president, Lula will make a stop in the Bahamas, where he will give a presentation for Elektra, a company belonging to the Mexican business group Salinas.

The former president will begin his Caribbean tour on Monday, the 30th. A thousand Elektra employees are expected to attend a paid lecture by the former Brazilian president. The amount charged for the lectures is not disclosed by the former president, but it is estimated that Lula earns between R$ 200,000 and R$ 300,000 for approximately one hour of speaking. According to his press office, in this lecture he is expected to advocate for increased economic integration between Mexican and Brazilian companies.

From the Bahamas, Lula will travel to Cuba, where he will stay for two days. His press office informed that the meeting with Fidel has not yet been scheduled. Following that, the former president will travel to Venezuela, where he is expected to participate in an event and meet with Chávez. This is Lula's first visit to these countries as a former president. His return to Brazil is scheduled for Saturday the 4th.
