"The best president for Brazil is Lula," says Dilma.

During her visit to Buenos Aires this week, where she received an honorary doctorate from the Metropolitan University for Education and Labor (UMET), deposed President Dilma Rousseff said that the solution to the political and economic crisis caused by the parliamentary coup is direct elections; for her, former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is the solution; "I don't plan to return to politics, because the great president for Brazil is Lula," stated Dilma; "The Brazilian people never authorized, in an election campaign, full retirement benefits only after 49 years of work"; "Direct elections are a moment to cleanse and purify the soul of the people, who also did not authorize in any way a privatization process, especially in the oil sector."

247 - Former President Dilma Rousseff received an honorary doctorate from the Metropolitan University for Education and Labor (UMET) in Buenos Aires on Thursday evening, the 22nd. During her visit to Argentina, Dilma spoke to several journalists and reiterated her criticism of the parliamentary coup she suffered in Brazil, which installed Michel Temer as President of the Republic.

For Dilma, the solution to the political crisis that has taken hold in Brazil after the coup is to hold direct elections immediately. For her, former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is the way out. "I don't plan on returning to politics, because the great president for Brazil is Lula," Dilma stated.

According to the deposed president, freezing spending for 20 years or reforming the pension system needs to go through an election campaign. "Direct elections and popular participation are necessary in this matter. Why? Because the Brazilian people have never authorized a constitutional amendment that freezes spending on health, education, security, science and technology for 20 years while allowing the payment of public debt interest without recourse."

According to her, "the Brazilian people never authorized, in an election campaign, full retirement benefits only after 49 years of work." "Direct elections are a moment to cleanse and purify the soul of the people, who also did not authorize in any way a privatization process, especially in the oil sector."

During her participation in the inaugural lecture at the end of the international course "Public Policies for Equality," organized by the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO), Dilma received a standing ovation from the audience. Watch:

Dilma believes, however, that Michel Temer will not resign from office to enable direct elections. "To think that he will resign is, at the very least, naive. No one stages a coup that is absolutely unfounded, clearly illegal, without any crime of responsibility, violating and tearing up the Constitution, only to then resign," she reflected.
