247 - The leader of the Workers' Party in the Chamber of Deputies, federal deputy Lindbergh Farias (PT-RJ), reacted vehemently to the sanctions announced by the government of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, against ministers of the Supreme Federal Court (STF). In statements published on his social networks this Friday (18), Lindbergh classified the decision as a serious attack on national sovereignty and an attempt to intimidate the Brazilian Justice system.

“The Trump administration revoked the visas of Alexandre de Moraes and seven other Supreme Court justices — Barroso, Toffoli, Zanin, Dino, Cármen Lúcia, Fachin, and Gilmar Mendes — as well as the immediate family members of these magistrates,” Lindbergh stated, highlighting that the measure elevates an internal legal dispute to the level of an international diplomatic crisis.

Firm reaction against foreign interference.

Lindbergh was categorical in denouncing the political nature of the decision made by Marco Rubio, the US Secretary of State, who ordered the immediate revocation of the visas. "It is a ruthless retaliation against our justice system, a violation of national sovereignty, and a demonstration of undue interference in our democratic system," he criticized.

According to the Workers' Party congressman, the United States government is turning visa policy into a weapon to interfere in Brazilian judicial processes. "Using visa policies as a political weapon violates the principle of respecting each country and its independent powers," he stated.

The Trump administration's decision came just hours after the launch of a new Federal Police operation against former President Jair Bolsonaro, which resulted in restrictive measures such as the use of an electronic ankle monitor and a nighttime curfew. The diplomatic offensive against Supreme Court justices has been interpreted as retaliation for judicial decisions against Bolsonaro and his political entourage.

Alignment with the far-right Bolsonaro supporters

Lindbergh also drew attention to the explicit connection between the Trump administration and extremist sectors of Bolsonaro's movement. "This offensive represents a new chapter in the alignment between Trump and extremist forces within Bolsonaro's movement—pressuring the Supreme Court and imposing external blackmail," he stated.

The congressman stressed the need for a strong response from the Brazilian government in the face of escalating diplomatic aggression: “Brazil needs to react firmly: these measures will not be tolerated. Institutions must be respected, without yielding to foreign threats,” he emphasized.

Defense of the Brazilian Judiciary

The PT leader reaffirmed his full solidarity with the ministers of the Supreme Federal Court and, in particular, with Minister Alexandre de Moraes, the central target of the retaliation announced by Washington. “URGENT! The American Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, revoked the visas of Minister Alexandre de Moraes and his family members in retaliation for a just and necessary measure against Jair Bolsonaro. If they think they will intimidate us, they are very mistaken,” warned Lindbergh.

In closing his statement, the congressman reiterated his commitment to defending national sovereignty: "Full solidarity with Minister Alexandre de Moraes. We will not be a colony of the USA!", he concluded.

The diplomatic crisis between Brazil and the United States deepens amid escalating investigations into the attempted coup in the country. Statements from political leaders reinforce the position of the government and broad democratic sectors in defense of the independence of the branches of power and the rule of law in Brazil.
