Brazilian prosecutors leak bank secrecy information from Palocci's consulting firm.
The consulting firm of former Finance Minister Antonio Palocci earned R$ 34,9 million between 2007 and 2010, when he was a federal deputy; Palocci stated that in no case was there interference or confusion with his parliamentary activities; he is under investigation in Lava Jato following allegations that he solicited R$ 2 million from whistleblower Paulo Roberto Costa, former director of Petrobras, for President Dilma Rousseff's (PT) 2010 campaign.
247 – Documents delivered by the Federal Revenue Service to the investigation conducted by the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office in the Federal District regarding former Finance Minister Antonio Palocci (PT) reveal that his consulting firm billed R$ 34,9 million between 2007 and 2010, when he was a federal deputy.
During that period, Projeto had 60 clients – the main ones being Amil, the law firm of former Minister Marcio Thomas Bastos (Justice), and Caoa Montadora de Veículos, with payments exceeding R$ 5 million.
Clients in the financial system accounted for 12,5% of the firm's revenue during the period, with Safra (R$ 1,12 million), Itaú (R$ 440 thousand), Real (R$ 220 thousand) and Santander (R$ 160 thousand).
Through his press office, Palocci stated that his consulting services "varyed according to the requirements of each client" and that, in no case, was there any interference or confusion with his parliamentary activities.
Palocci is the target of a Federal Police investigation following allegations that the former minister requested R$ 2 million from whistleblower Paulo Roberto Costa, former director of Petrobras, for President Dilma Rousseff's (PT) 2010 campaign. Costa claims to have received the request from money launderer Alberto Youssef – who, in turn, denies making any request on behalf of the former minister. Given the contradiction, a confrontation between the two whistleblowers is planned, a procedure that has faced resistance from the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office.
Through his lawyers, Palocci denies having made any request for funds.
