The "Stop Bolsonaro" movement is holding protests this Sunday in at least 70 cities around the world.
The organizers intend to denounce the Brazilian government's lack of policy regarding the new coronavirus and the fascist discourse endorsed by Bolsonaro's supporters.
From Rede Brasil Atual – International organizations are promoting the Stop Bolsonaro event around the world this Sunday (28). According to the organizers, with the weakening of President Jair Bolsonaro, it is time to create international pressure.
So far, protests have been confirmed in 24 countries and 70 cities. According to journalist Selma Vital, a resident of Denmark and head of the Aurora group, the Bolsonaro government affects all Brazilians, including those living abroad.
“It’s a situation that affects all Brazilians, and it’s sad to see it from afar. This act gives those outside the country the opportunity to also voice their indignation. While we saw countries shut down because of the pandemic, Bolsonaro did nothing,” she criticized, speaking to reporter Marilu Cabañas of Rádio Brasil Atual.
The organizers intend to denounce the Brazilian government's lack of policy regarding the new coronavirus and the fascist discourse endorsed by Bolsonaro's supporters.
Erica Caminha, a human rights activist and visual artist in Germany, is one of the organizers of the event in Germany. She reports that the Brazilian president is criticized daily by the German media.
“Every day, on radio, in magazines, and on television, Bolsonaro is criticized. We are seen as poor victims at the mercy of irresponsible people. Here in Germany, not even the German far-right wants to be associated with him, he's so terrible,” he stated.
The demonstrations will take place both in person and virtually. Since some countries have not yet controlled cases of COVID-19, the recommendation is that people participate from home. "Regarding health safety, we recommend that, in Brazil, the events be online. But we will implement a safety protocol so that people who go to the streets can protect themselves from the virus," added Erica.
The "Stop Bolsonaro" movement is taking place in several countries, including: Germany, Austria, Argentina, Chile, Spain, the United States, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Portugal, England, Switzerland, and Uruguay.
