Moraes on the Aécio case: Senate to 'bear the consequences'

"The Supreme Federal Court (STF) defined the rules of the game by interpreting the Constitution. Now it's up to the Senate. Let the Senate vote – and if it goes to the Chamber of Deputies in the future, let them vote – and then deal with the political consequences," declared the Supreme Federal Court Justice during a lecture in São Paulo.

247 - Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes stated that the Senate will have to "bear the consequences" of the decision that could lift the suspension of Senator Aécio Neves (PSDB-MG), allowing him to return to parliamentary activities.

"The Supreme Federal Court (STF) defined the rules of the game by interpreting the Constitution. Now it's up to the Senate. Let the Senate vote – and if it goes to the Chamber of Deputies in the future, let them vote – and then deal with the political consequences," declared Moraes, during the opening of the 21st International Road Freight Transport Fair in São Paulo, according to... G1 report.

"The Supreme Court authorized the Senate to do this and will decide politically. The Supreme Court's decision is legal, and the Senate's decision, in these cases, is political," he added.
