It was President Dilma Rousseff who put marketing strategist João Santana in charge of the campaign of Patrus Ananias, the Workers' Party candidate for mayor of Belo Horizonte. Santana assured the president that he would be able to divide his time between the capital of Minas Gerais, São Paulo, where he is supporting the Workers' Party candidate Fernando Haddad, and the Venezuelan election, where he is working to re-elect Hugo Chávez.
Santana even said what he will do for Patrus. One of his ideas is to replace the Workers' Party's red on TV with a more muted color, pink. There's more. Santana is bringing with him Vox Populi, from sociologist Marcos Coimbra. It was a blow to Mayor Márcio Lacerda (PSB), who is seeking another term. Vox Populi had a long relationship with Lacerda and his patron, Senator Aécio Neves (PSDB).
