Marina: alliance with Campos was not "revenge"

Former senator says that joining the PSB and allying with the governor of Pernambuco was "a legitimate defense of hope, the hope of seeing that a programmatic alliance is possible"; Marina Silva acknowledges that the decision was not well received by members of the Rede Sustentabilidade party, but said she is not "God"; "Those who disagree have the right not to vote, they have the right to disagree, that's democracy. I am not God, and not everyone agrees with God."

247 - Former minister in Lula's government, Marina Silva, denied on Tuesday, August 8th, that she had joined the PSB and formed an alliance with the governor of Pernambuco, Eduardo Campos, as "revenge" against those who supposedly worked against the viability of her party, Rede Sustentabilidade.

According to her, the decision was made in "legitimate defense of hope, the hope of seeing that a programmatic alliance is possible." The statement was given to... FSPthree days after the official announcement that the former senator would be the vice-presidential candidate on Campos' ticket, who was running for president of the Republic in 2014.

"Many people ask me: 'Senator, was this revenge?' I say: it was an act in legitimate defense of hope, the hope of seeing that a programmatic alliance is possible," said Marina. According to her, the affiliation of Congressman Roberto Freire to the PPS party, which had been considered, would not be consistent with the discourse that Rede had been making.

Regarding the resistance from her party's militants to the agreement with the PSB, she responded: "Those who disagree have the right not to vote, they have the right to disagree, that's democracy. I am not God, and not everyone agrees with God. And that doesn't mean He strikes people down with lightning because they disagree with Him."
