Maia: 'Impression' is that Bolsonaro is using his son to induce Bebianno's departure.

The Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Rodrigo Maia (DEM-RJ), stated that President Jair Bolsonaro needs to "lead the solution" to the political crisis involving the Minister of the General Secretariat, Gustavo Bebianno; "The impression is that the president is using his son to ask Bebianno to leave," he said.

Maia: 'Impression' is that Bolsonaro is using his son to induce Bebianno's departure.

247 - The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Rodrigo Maia (DEM-RJ), stated this Thursday (14) to Andréia Sadi's Blog President Jair Bolsonaro needs to "lead the solution" to the political crisis involving the Minister of the General Secretariat, Gustavo Bebianno, who is suspected of authorizing the release of R$ 400 in public funds from the party fund to a "dummy" candidate from the PSL, Jair Bolsonaro's party.

"The impression is that the president is using his son to ask Bebianno to resign. And he is the president of the Republic, isn't he? He's no longer a congressman, he's not the president of the military association," said the DEM congressman. "So, if he has a problem, he has to lead the solution, and he can't, from my point of view, mix family with this because it ends up generating insecurity, a political signal of insecurity for everyone," he added.

Rio de Janeiro city councilor Carlos Bolsonaro (PSL) called the minister a liar this Wednesday (13).

"Yesterday I was with my father for 24 hours a day and I affirm: It is an absolute lie by Gustavo Bebbiano that he spoke three times with Jair Bolsonaro yesterday to discuss the matter mentioned by Globo and retransmitted by Antagonista," he said. "There is no dirty laundry to be aired! Only the truth: Bolsonaro did not discuss the matter exposed by O Globo with Bebiano as he said he did," he continued.

According to Maia, it is a "very big risk" for a government to turn the Bebianno episode into a crisis because there are important challenges for the government to face, including the approval of the pension reform.

"Look, I don't like to get involved in family matters, but I think the Bebianno episode has nothing to do with Bebianno. Bebianno transferred money to the [PSL] directory, didn't he? Or to a candidate from a state. Any party president could go through that. To turn that into a crisis within the Presidential Palace, I think that's a very big risk for a government that needs to analyze its leadership and unity, because it will have important challenges starting with Social Security," he stated.
