According to him, the real objective of the "coup plotters" is to take away rights and eliminate social programs, in addition to handing over the pre-salt oil reserves and "privatizing everything they couldn't" when they were in government.
Lula also says that, with the new foreign policy, Brazil will once again speak harshly to Bolivia and softly to the United States, as Chico Buarque used to say.
He positions himself at the forefront of the resistance for legality and says that the coup plotters "have already lost the battle for credibility."

MY FRIENDS,
There are moments in a country's history when telling the truth is an act of courage, a great gesture in defense of democracy.
This book narrates, in its various aspects, the farce of the impeachment against President Dilma.
It exposes the methods and interests of the alliance between the parties defeated at the polls and the most corrupt aspects of Brazilian politics.
RECORDS – FOR BRAZIL, FOR THE WORLD, AND FOR HISTORY – THE TRUE NATURE OF THE 2016 COUP.
And they can be sure – nothing frightens them more than the truth contained in the simple word. COUP.
This is what they are trying to hide, in rude statements to newspapers and governments of countries that do not recognize the impeachment farce.
This is what they are trying to hide by censoring our protests and even the activities of President Dilma Rousseff.
After the coup, Globo Network simply took Dilma off the air, as if she didn't exist or had never existed.
As if she weren't fighting daily, along with all democrats, to restore the mandate and the rule of law.
They want to rewrite history, erasing what doesn't suit them, falsifying the present and even the past, as the totalitarian dictatorships of the twentieth century did.
But they will not achieve this goal as long as there is a single conscious Brazilian man or woman resisting the coup, the manipulation, and the censorship.
They may have won the first impeachment battle in the House, but they have already been defeated in the fight for credibility.
This transitional government is not recognized by either the Brazilian people or the community of democratic nations.
They don't even respect the procedure that provides for a final vote in the Senate.
They act as if they were a definitive government, which they are not, and a legitimate one, which they will never be.
Their objectives are already clear to everyone:
Reverse the guarantees for workers and retirees;
Dismantle the major social programs, such as "Minha Casa Minha Vida" (My House My Life), "Bolsa Família" (Family Allowance), "PROUNI" (University for All Program), and "FIES" (Student Financing Fund).
To regress in the field of collective and individual rights; of women, Black people, Indigenous people, LGBT people, children and youth;
Dismantle the SUS (Brazilian Public Health System), federal universities, and the public social security system;
Privatize the public banks and everything else they failed to sell during the neoliberal PSDB and DEM governments;
Handing over the pre-salt oil reserves to foreigners;
To reverse the sovereign foreign policy, in order to subjugate Brazil to richer countries.
To control the institutions in order to restore the impunity that always benefited them before the PT governments.
They know they lack the legitimacy, the political and moral standing to set the country back in this way.
They know that this coup attempt cannot be sustained for very long.
And they know, above all, that the fight for legality and respect for the ballot box will continue.
Until the vote in the Senate and until democracy prevails again in Brazil.
This book proves how alive and well the country's democratic consciousness is.
That's what they're afraid of.
Congratulations to everyone, and you can always count on me in the fight for truth and democracy.
