Lula: Either Brazil punishes Bolsonaro's crimes, or he destroys Brazil.

"My problem with Bolsonaro is that he doesn't take care of the pandemic, the economy, or foreign policy. Brazil has never been so ridiculed abroad as it is now," said Lula, who would be president today if he hadn't been the victim of a lawfare lawsuit.

Sputnik - Former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said that it is necessary to "find President Jair Bolsonaro guilty of crimes of responsibility" in order to remove him from office, or "he will destroy this country."

"Either we find a way to address the crimes of responsibility that Bolsonaro committed and remove him, or he will destroy this country, the way things are going," Lula stated in an interview with the UOL portal.

The former president criticized recent comments by Bolsonaro, who compared COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus, to a "little flu." According to Lula, the current head of state "only stopped short" of saying he would "get rid" of the virus in his "urine."

"The president said it was just a little flu, that an athlete like him would get rid of it in his urine, he almost said that. But it's not like that, it's an unknown disease, scientists are giving advice. We need to take care of it, that's the president's role," Lula opined.

The Workers' Party member defended mayors and governors in their disputes with Bolsonaro, who is critical of social isolation measures to contain the coronavirus.

'What kind of government is this?'

"The government can't be fighting with governors and mayors; it needs to be the conductor of the federated entities. It's not taking care of the pandemic, the economy, employment, or jobs. What kind of government is that?" he argued.

He also commented on the current political scenario in the country, with Sergio Moro's departure from the Ministry of Justice. In his resignation speech, the former judge compared the current government to the Workers' Party administrations, stating that in previous administrations there was no interference in the Federal Police.

Bolsonaro's pressure to appoint a new director for the agency is what led Moro to leave the ministry. However, the former judge's affection for Lula "only demonstrates Moro's unscrupulousness."

[This statement] only demonstrates Moro's bad character. He used the PT to attack Bolsonaro. He was Bolsonaro's bootlicker until the day he left. To be honest, Moro could also have said that we took good care of the Public Prosecutor's Office, that I guaranteed autonomy to all those appointed to my government," said the PT member.

Brazil has 'never been so ridiculed abroad'

Regarding foreign policy, he said that Brazil "has never been so ridiculed abroad as it is now."

"My problem with Bolsonaro is that he doesn't take care of the pandemic, the economy, or foreign policy. Brazil has never been so ridiculed abroad as it is now," he lashed out.
