Lula begins tour of the Northeast.

The former president arrives in Bahia this Wednesday to meet with Dona Can and Jaques Wagner. On Thursday, he'll be in Recife.

Almost "detached" from the presidential chair and eager to return to "bothering some people," former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva begins his tour of the country this week. His journey will begin in the Northeast, in Bahia, where he will meet with the matriarch of the Veloso family, Dona Canô, 103 years old, and visit Governor Jaques Wagner (PT-BA). In Pernambuco, Lula is expected to meet with Governor Eduardo Campos (PSB-PE).

Worthy of a campaign agenda, the three-day tour begins tomorrow when Lula departs for Salvador. The former president will visit Santo Amaro da Purificação to see the mother of singers Caetano Veloso and Maria Bethânia, who was hospitalized last week after experiencing abdominal pain and shortness of breath. After meeting with Dona Canô, Lula will travel to Feira de Santana, where he will visit the facilities of the State Children's Hospital. The day's agenda concludes with a dinner hosted by Governor Jaques Wagner at the Ondina Palace. The following day, Lula will participate in the launch of the Bahia state government's Harvest Plan.

The former president will be in Recife on Thursday afternoon, the 21st, where he will participate in the 5th Anniversary of the Orquestra Criança Cidadã Meninos do Coque, at Parque Dona Lindu. On the last day of his trip, Lula will receive honorary doctorates at the Teatro Santa Isabel at 10 am, also in Recife. The titles were conferred by the University of Pernambuco (UPE), the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), and the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE).

In his six months away from the Presidency, Lula has dedicated himself to lectures, meetings, and tributes around the world. During this period, Lula has avoided interviews under the pretext that he has not yet "completely detached himself" from the Presidency. Last week, at an event of the General Union of Workers (UGT) in São Paulo, the former president announced that he would return to traveling around Brazil. "I'm going to bother some people again," he warned.
