Lula will be in the 2018 elections, whether alive or dead, says Dilma.

Deposed President Dilma Rousseff gave a lecture at the University of Helsinki, Finland, where she reaffirmed Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's presence in the 2018 elections; according to her, Lula will participate in the next elections "dead or alive"; "Every time Lula is convicted, he rises in the polls. And every time he rises in the polls, they escalate the legal process. But he will participate in the election. Dead or alive, imprisoned or free, convicted or acquitted. Lula will always be present because he is no longer just a person. He is already a project," she stated.

247 - In yet another successful speech abroad, ousted President Dilma Rousseff addressed an audience at the University of Helsinki, Finland, about democracy in Brazil and reaffirmed Lula's presence in the upcoming elections.

“Every time Lula is convicted, he rises higher in the polls. And every time he rises in the polls, they escalate the legal process. But he will participate in the election. Alive or dead, imprisoned or free, convicted or acquitted. Lula will always be present because he is no longer just a person. He is already a project,” stated the Workers' Party member.

Dilma once again denounced internationally the coup she suffered and compared her removal to "carpetão" – a football slang term used to refer to victories achieved off the field.

“Losing and winning elections is part of democratic life. But staging a coup is not part of democratic life. Trying to win, as they say in football, by cheating – I don't know if they use that term here in Finland too. Winning by cheating… That's unacceptable. And politically, that's unthinkable if you want to build a truly democratic regime,” he said.
