247 - The PT candidate for President, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, said today (20) that he intends to create the Ministry of Public Security with a focus on combating arms and drug trafficking in the border region. “We will have to build special police forces, a new national police force that can handle the job,” he told the press in Rio de Janeiro.

Lula also highlighted the need to increase control over arms sales. "We, with the Ministry of Security, are going to establish a new standard of control. It's unacceptable that we have no control whatsoever over the weapons that are sold in this country," he added.

According to him, The measures that have facilitated access to weapons and ammunition in recent years have ended up benefiting criminal organizations."What we are seeing is drug trafficking preparing itself, modernizing itself, with the government's authorization, to be able to confront not only the police, but also the tranquility of Brazilian society," he emphasized.

The candidate also advocated for changes to current drug legislation to prevent the criminalization of users. "We need to improve the drug laws that were made in 2008 and 2009 to make it clear that users need treatment, recovery, and centers of excellence," he said.

JOBS

Lula said that as a measure to curb unemployment, he intends to resume projects that were paralyzed after the PT left the government, with the impeachment "There are almost 13,400 projects that were left unfinished because Dilma was impeached in a coup. And these projects need to be resumed with some urgency. Since these projects already had the design and the environmental license, we just need to start working on these projects and agree with the companies that won the bids that the workers must be hired from the communities where these projects will be carried out," he said.
