Lula warns that 'the world is more perverse' and calls for unity in the face of Trump's attacks.
The president reiterated his defense of national sovereignty and democracy, emphasizing that these should be the central values transmitted to Brazilians.
247 - President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva made an appeal for national unity this Monday (11), amid attacks that Brazil has been receiving from the United States, from President Donald Trump.
Lula stated, without mentioning the White House chief, that "the world is becoming more perverse and malicious" and reiterated his defense of national sovereignty and democracy. He spoke at an event of the Ministry of Education (MEC) in Brasília-DF.
In awarding the MEC Prize to basic education students, the president made sure to mention the central role of a strengthened education system for national sovereignty, and criticized past governments for ignoring investments in the sector.
According to Lula, education "is the only and most effective solution to solve our country's problem." The president took the opportunity to send a message to Congress and "to the government itself," stating that a strengthened Brazilian education system will have a high cost, reinforcing the need for robust public investments.
Lula also stated that it will be a challenge to place Brazil "among the most competitive nations in the world," but expressed confidence in achieving this goal.
