247 - Supreme Court Justice Ricardo Lewandowski denied an appeal filed by Antonio Palocci's defense team seeking to unfreeze the former minister's assets.
Palocci based his argument on a court decision that released the assets of former President Lula, arguing that his situation was the same, since he was the target of the same decision by the Federal Court of Curitiba, under Sergio Moro, which froze Lula's assets.
Lewandowski, however, did not recognize any connection between the decision favorable to Lula and Palocci's personal appeal, which, in his interpretation, makes the benefit unfeasible.
“I do not find the necessary identity with regard to ancillary procedural relationships,” Lewandowski wrote in the ruling (read the full document below).
