Electoral court validates donations from dealerships.

The decision benefits São Paulo senator Aloysio Nunes Ferreira.

The Regional Electoral Court (TRE) of São Paulo rejected the first requests for judicial investigation against politicians elected in 2010 who received donations from companies and entities considered by the Electoral Public Prosecutor's Office as prohibited sources. In a unanimous vote, the TRE rejected the argument of illicit fundraising and violation of article 30-A of Law 9.504/97 (Electoral Law).

The rulings refute the claim of illegality in the transfers to the campaigns of congresswoman Aline Corrêa (PP-SP) and senator Aloysio Nunes Ferreira (PSDB-SP). The Electoral Prosecutor's Office filed 17 lawsuits in January related to donations from UTC Engenharia S/A and the Association of the Pharmaceutical Research Industry (Interfarma).

“I didn’t expect a different decision from the Regional Electoral Court,” declared Aloysio Nunes. “These issues had already been raised by the court’s technicians when examining my campaign’s financial statements. It’s important to note that the Regional Electoral Court unanimously approved my accounts, without any reservations. I was always very calm regarding the judgment.”

Electoral prosecutors Pedro Barbosa Pereira Neto and André de Carvalho Ramos classified UTC as a public service concessionaire (oil exploration) and Interfarma as a trade association. Among those cited is Governor Geraldo Alckmin (PSDB), "who, through the finance committee, received R$ 700 from UTC." The request regarding Alckmin has not yet been scheduled for discussion at the Regional Electoral Court (TRE). The expectation is that the court will rule in favor of the legality of the donation.
