Jorge Viana: Dilma's success bothers her opponents.

"President Dilma, with each passing day, gains the trust of more Brazilians and manages to break one record after another," celebrated the Workers' Party senator; in an interview with Valor, he declared that Eduardo Campos' candidacy is for real, but that the governor of Pernambuco cannot be seen as an "enemy."

Jorge Viana: Dilma's success bothers her opponents.

247, with Senate Agency - Senator Jorge Viana (PT-AC), in a speech in the Plenary this Wednesday (20), commented on the results of the most recent Ibope-CNI survey, which indicate high approval of President Dilma Rousseff, saying that the recorded figures may make some opponents of the federal government "more uneasy". In his assessment, led by Dilma, Brazil will continue to be a reference for the world.

"President Dilma, with each passing day, gains the trust of more Brazilians and manages to break one [popularity] record after another," he stated.

Jorge Viana cited data from the survey, reporting that Dilma achieved a personal approval rating of 78% among 1.200 voters consulted, and 63% of the population approve of her performance in government. The congressman stressed that public optimism regarding the remainder of Dilma's government is also growing.

When these figures are compared to Lula's own government and to the government of President Fernando Henrique Cardoso, President Dilma fares even better.

The senator attributes Dilma Rousseff's approval rating to the low unemployment rate, income growth, social policies, and the president's personal charisma. According to Jorge Viana, Dilma's success is a source of discomfort for the government's opponents, who have therefore been trying to bring forward the 2014 election agenda in an attempt to recover "ground that is becoming increasingly scarce."

"The governor cannot be seen as an enemy."

In an interview with Valor EconômicoJorge Viana, considered one of the senators closest to former president Lula, stated that the candidacy of the governor of Pernambuco, Eduardo Campos, is for real. However, he cautions that the president of the PSB cannot be treated as an enemy. For him, it is "natural" for a pre-candidacy to emerge within the allied base, given that the opposition is "weakened" in the country.

"Campos may be an adversary, but there are affinities that will keep us together in the future. This movement is much more linked to 2018 than to 2014," he said. "Sometimes we have candidacies that are launched and will contest an election, but deep down they are eyeing the next election," added the parliamentarian.
