War: 'Aécio needs to show his face more'

247 - Criticized since part of the PSDB caucus voted for the election of Renan Calheiros (PMDB-AL) as president of the Senate, Senator Aécio Neves (PSDB-MG) lamented the episode and promised a more "heated" opposition upon returning from Carnival.

Within the party, Aécio's stance has also been questioned. According to the president of the PSDB, Congressman Sérgio Guerra, if he wants to win in 2014, he must assume a more relevant role in discussions of national interests and consolidate the leadership expected of him in order to build a competitive candidacy.

'He needs to show his face more. We need a candidate who represents a viable option for power, a coherent, national discourse that unifies its leaders,' said Guerra.

Opposition
It's small in Parliament. That doesn't mean it's small in the electorate. The party (PSDB) elected 700 mayors and grew in medium and larger cities.

Eduardo Campos (PSB)

I don't believe he'll run for office. Today he's one of the few Brazilian leaders and has also demonstrated excellent conduct in his state... just like Aécio did with the PSDB.

Renan Calheiros (PMDB)

I can't discuss the secret ballot. The PSDB doesn't elect or defeat candidates for Speaker of the House; it's the government's base. It's President Dilma.

Henrique Alves (PMDB)

You can't define Henrique Eduardo Alves's performance based solely on this current vote, this current election. You have to see what happens over time.

Parliament

The lack of respect for Congress is absolute, especially from the Executive Branch. We can't say that the erosion of parliament is due to electing Henrique Eduardo Alves and Renan Calheiros. For me, having carried out the Cachoeira Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry is more damaging. Implementing that project was a fraud.
