Gleisi schedules meetings with leaders to begin political coordination.
The new Minister of Institutional Relations is coordinating in-person meetings with parliamentarians for next week.
247 - About to take over the Ministry of Institutional Relations, replacing Alexandre Padilha, federal deputy Gleisi Hoffmann (PT-PR) has already started political negotiations and scheduled individual meetings with leaders of the Chamber. Gleisi will be officially sworn into office next Monday (10).
According to congressmen interviewed by the journalist's column Igor GadelhaAccording to Metrópoles, the new minister began calling party leaders as early as Friday (28), shortly after her appointment was confirmed by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. In the conversations, according to the report, Gleisi invited parliamentarians to face-to-face meetings next week, reinforcing the need for direct dialogue with the main interlocutors in Congress.
Allies claim their strategy will be based on a "handcrafted policy," aiming to understand the demands of each leader and improve the relationship between the Presidential Palace and the Chamber of Deputies. This move comes at a time of strain in the government's political coordination, especially following impasses involving the release of parliamentary amendments.
Gleisi's appointment also aims at a broader horizon: the construction of a new "broad front" for the 2026 presidential succession. As president of the PT in 2022, she was one of the main figures responsible for coordinating Lula's ticket, which defeated Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in the last elections. Now, at the head of Institutional Relations, the expectation is that her actions will rebuild the allied base in Congress and enable the government's main agendas.
