247 - The president of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), Minister Luiz Fux, attacked the candidacy of former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva this Tuesday, the 31st.

During an event in Salvador, Fux said, without mentioning Lula's name, that "a politician subject to the Clean Record Law cannot force a situation by registering in order to become a candidate whose candidacy is under judicial review."

"In our view, a candidate convicted in the second instance is already ineligible. It's a candidate whose legal situation is already defined. A candidate who cannot be elected cannot run," stated the minister, adding that "he did not wish to personalize any issue."

Several experts have argued that the Clean Record Law allows Lula to register his candidacy for president, even though he was convicted without evidence in the second instance and held as a political prisoner for more than 100 days at the Federal Police headquarters in Curitiba.read more).
