Freixo: Marielle's assassination has a powerful mastermind.

In a speech on the floor of the Chamber of Deputies, federal deputy Marcelo Freixo (PSOL-RJ) commented on the operation that arrested two suspects in the murders of Marielle Franco and Anderson Gomes; "This action is overdue, it's overdue. It's been a year and I have no doubt... they presented it today so that they wouldn't arrive on the 14th without any results. That's clearly what happened," said Freixo; "It's an unacceptable amount of time to not have an answer. We know that today's response is also a political statement, but it's good that it happened," he added; watch

247 - In a speech on the floor of the Chamber of Deputies this Tuesday, the 12th, the date on which the Civil Police arrested two suspects in the murder of councilwoman Marielle Franco and her driver, Anderson Gomes, federal deputy Marcelo Freixo (PSOL-RJ) criticized the delay in the operation and recalled the date of the assassination, which will mark one year next Thursday, the 14th.

"This action is overdue, it's overdue. It's been a year, and I have no doubt... they presented it today so that they wouldn't reach the 14th without any results. That's clearly what happened," said Freixo. "They couldn't let a year go by without any results. With planted witnesses, with the Civil Police not meeting with the Public Prosecutor's Office, with the Federal Police fulfilling the excellent role of investigating the investigation," he added.

"It's an unacceptable time to remain silent. We know that today's response is also a political statement, but it's good that it happened. It's good that we know, according to the Civil Police, who fired the shots. But we will not remain silent in the face of this. It wasn't a hate crime against one person, but a hate movement against many people," the congressman added.

"We will not stop asking about the mastermind. Who ordered the killing? On the 14th we will take to the streets," announced Freixo. According to him, who chaired the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry into Militias in the Rio de Janeiro Legislative Assembly, if they had investigated the findings at the time (in 2008), perhaps we could have prevented Marielle's death.

The congressman also sent a harsh message against parliamentarians who, according to him, joked about Marielle's death. "To the mediocre ones on duty: time will be merciless with you, you who laugh, break plaques. You will be forgotten, no one will remember that you existed. Marielle, dead, is already much bigger."
