Forbes includes Dilma among the most powerful people in the world.
The Brazilian president occupies the 22nd position on a list led by the President of the United States, Barack Obama.
247 – While President Dilma Rousseff hasn't lost popularity within Brazil, her reputation abroad remains strong. Forbes magazine ranked Dilma among the 70 most important people in the world. The only Brazilian on the list, she occupies 22nd place.
The list is headed by US President Barack Obama, who regained the lead he lost last year to Chinese President Hu Jintao, who appears in this year's edition as the second most important person in the world. Third place goes to Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
To compile its ranking, the magazine takes into account the influence wielded by each individual, the financial resources they control, and the extent to which the most powerful individuals have the power to change the world.
The same magazine, "Forbes," had named President Dilma as the third most powerful woman in the world in its August edition this year. The ranking of the 100 most powerful women was led by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, followed by US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
