Lobão's son received bribes from Belo Monte in cash, says Andrade whistleblower.

247 - Operation Leviathan, the new phase of Lava Jato, launched this Thursday, the 16th, with authorization from Minister Edson Fachin, was based, among other things, on the plea bargain testimony of former director of the Andrade Gutierrez construction company, Flávio Barra.

Among the main targets of the operation are the son of Senator Edison Lobão (PMDB), Marcio Lobão, and former Senator Luiz Otávio Campos (PMDB), who is linked to Senator Jader Barbalho, also from the PMDB party.

Andrade Gutierrez was part of the construction consortium for Belo Monte. According to Flávio Barra, between R$ 4 million and R$ 5 million were transferred to Senator Edison Lobão (PMDB) for the Angra 3 works and R$ 600 for the hydroelectric plant.

The bribe money from the Belo Monte corruption scheme was allegedly delivered in cash to Márcio Lobão's home during the period when his father, now president of the Senate's Constitution and Justice Committee, was Minister of Mines and Energy. Lobão will preside over Alexandre de Moraes' confirmation hearing for the Supreme Federal Court. If his name is approved by the Senate, Moraes will be the reviewing judge for the Lava Jato corruption investigation at the Supreme Court.

In addition to Lobão and Barbalho, Senators Renan Calheiros (PMDB-AL), Romero Jucá (PMDB-RR), and Valdir Raupp (PMDB-RO) are also being investigated in this inquiry. The Attorney General's Office and the Federal Police are investigating whether a bribe of 1% of the value of contracts signed for the Belo Monte hydroelectric project was paid to political parties involved in the project's approval. The suspicion is that the companies comprising the consortium responsible for the project made the payment.

Still in his testimony, the Andrade Gutierrez executive said that the bribe in Belo Monte was 0,5% for the PT and 0,5% for the PMDB – a percentage of the contract value.
