FHC insults Lula again: "crude, he killed the left"
After supporting one of the biggest institutional ruptures in the country's history, the 2016 coup, former president FHC now claims Lula "no longer represents what he once did." "(If he runs for president) he will lose, because there is a very strong anti-PT sentiment," he said.
247 - After supporting one of the biggest institutional ruptures in the country's history, the 2016 coup, former president Fernando Henrique Cardoso (PSDB) has once again attacked former president Lula (PT), who was convicted without evidence by former judge Sérgio Moro to be removed from the 2018 election. According to Cardoso, Lula "killed the left" in Brazil and "no longer represents anything."
In an interview with UOL portalFHC said that Lula is not a viable name to run in the next elections.
"I knew Lula when he was rough around the edges, but he's not rough anymore. He's learned. But Lula is in the past. What he represented, he no longer represents. Lula is free, and now what does he say? He attacks Bolsonaro, but that's not what Brazil wants. (If he runs for office) he will lose, because there is a very strong anti-PT sentiment," said the politician, a supporter of the coup against Dilma Rousseff in 2016, which opened the way for an agenda based on economic sell-outs and cuts to rights and investments.
"What Lula represented, he no longer represents. He is accused based on facts. Could there be anti-PT sentiment in the trial? Maybe. But that doesn't affect the concrete facts," he added.
The former president also attacked Luciano Huck, a possible presidential candidate in 2022, stating that he is "marginalized" in politics. FHC criticized the TV host for not taking a stand during the coronavirus crisis. "And among the new forces, Luciano Huck, who is supported by everyone, in these times of greater conflict, of crisis, has less to say. He becomes somewhat marginalized in the process," he said.
