FHC insults voter and sees PT supporter as ignorant.

With Senator Aécio Neves advancing to the second round, former president Fernando Henrique Cardoso has started speaking out, and if he continues in this vein, he could damage the PSDB (Brazilian Social Democracy Party) candidacy; to journalist Sonia Racy of the Estado de S. Paulo newspaper, he stated that "President Dilma is not poor, she's just chubby"; now, to columnist Josias de Souza of the UOL portal, he stated that PT (Workers' Party) voters are "less informed"; here is his statement: "The PT is rooted in the less informed, which happens to be the poorest. It's not because they are poor that they support the PT, it's because they are less informed," he stated.

247 - Former president Fernando Henrique Cardoso could damage the candidacy of Senator Aécio Neves (PSDB-MG) if he continues giving interviews at the pace he has been doing.

Yesterday, in an interview with journalist Sonia Racy, he stated that this will not be a dispute between the poor and the rich, because President Dilma Rousseff "is not poor, she's just chubby" (read more). here).

Now, in an interview with columnists Josias de Souza and Mario Magalhães from the UOL portal, he insulted voters who voted for the PT, associating them with ignorance. "The PT is entrenched among the less informed, which happens to be the poorest. It's not because they are poor that they support the PT, it's because they are less informed," he said.

"This shift by the PT from urban centers to rural areas is a worrying sign from the PT's point of view because it signals a loss of vitality, relying on sectors of society that are, above all, less informed," said FHC. "Generally, it's a coincidence between the poorest and the least qualified."

Although Aécio won in São Paulo, he lost in important states in the South and Southeast, such as Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, and Rio Grande do Sul – and not just in the North and Northeast.

After the slip-up, FHC also spoke of a possible alliance with former senator Marina Silva. "We will discuss which points could allow for an effective rapprochement," he added.
