Ambassador Sérgio Amaral suffers accident in Goiás.

He collided head-on with a motorcycle and is in the Anápolis Emergency Hospital. The motorcyclist died instantly. He was the director of the Formosa prison.

Goiás 247 – Ambassador and former minister Sérgio Amaral, 67, was involved in an accident last night at kilometer 378 of the BR 414 highway, in the municipality of Cocalzinho de Goiás. He was traveling from Brasília to Pirenópolis, where he owns a home. The Volkswagen Gol he was driving collided head-on with a motorcycle driven by Ari Rodrigues da Silva, 43, director of the Formosa prison. He was returning from Corumbá. The accident occurred around 20 pm. Silva died at the scene, and even the weapon he was carrying was crushed. Amaral was taken to the Anápolis Emergency Hospital with minor injuries.

Sérgio Silva do Amaral was born in São Paulo in 1944. He graduated in Law from the University of São Paulo. During the government of Fernando Henrique Cardoso, he served as a Minister of State twice. First, as Secretary of Social Communication and spokesperson for the President. Then, Minister of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade. Today he is a managing partner of SSA Consultoria Internacional, a partner and advisor at Felsberg e Associados, a director of FAAP, and an advisor to Fiesp. He is also a member of the board of directors of WWF and other companies.
