247 - President Dilma Rousseff stated this Tuesday, the 29th, during the inauguration of the Gilberto Amado Bridge in Sergipe, that the lives of municipalities will improve with the new resources announced this Monday at the opening of the National Meeting of New Mayors. "I want to tell the mayors that the federal government has organized all the investments we have to offer. There are R$ 66 billion in new investments. (...) I am certain that the lives of the municipalities will improve," said the president.

Dilma also highlighted the importance of the Gilberto Amado Bridge, located between the municipalities of Estância and Indiaroba in Sergipe state, for local economic development and tourism. "It's important for Brazil to connect the entire Brazilian Northeast to the rest of the country and the North," she added. Regarding the project, the president said that "bridges aren't built just for tourism," but also "because without them we live separately, we can't come together and strengthen ourselves."

The president also mentioned the federal government's partnerships with the state, praising Governor Marcelo Déda for connecting Sergipe from the Piauí River to the São Francisco River. "This bridge is a clear example of the Brazil we are building. It is one of the most beautiful bridges in the country and had a great cost," said Dilma. She also highlighted her concern about the drought affecting the Northeast region and reaffirmed her commitment to mitigating its effects. At the end of her speech, she wished Déda victory in his fight against cancer.

This is the second state visited by the president on her tour of the Northeast this semester. Dilma has already been to Piauí and plans to travel to Pernambuco and Paraíba in the coming weeks.
