Esmael's Blog - “Either Lula or nothing” was the slogan chosen by the militants of the Workers’ Cause Party (PCO) during the National Open Conference of Struggle Against the Coup and for Lula Free, which ended this Sunday (22). The party will reinforce the calendar of acts and mobilizations that should take place until the registration of the former president’s candidacy on August 15 in Brasília.

Present at the event, the National President of the PT (Workers' Party), Senator Gleisi Hoffmann, thanked the PCO (Workers' Cause Party) on behalf of Lula for all the solidarity shown. “The party has been an inseparable companion in the struggle and resistance against the coup and now in the defense of Lula. That is why this conference is so important. I know that a series of decisions will emerge from here that will once again be fundamental to maintaining the mobilization,” pointed out the president of the PT.

Gleisi continues, stating that the PCO's support for Lula has been extremely important in all the major battles that have taken place since 2016: "Everyone knows that the PT has no other plan besides Lula. He is the only candidate who can reverse all the atrocities committed in less than two years by the coup plotters."

According to Antônio Carlos Silva, from the national leadership of the PCO (Workers' Cause Party), the conference itself can be considered the starting point for keeping the people in the streets. The creation and dissemination of committees should also strengthen the defense of democracy. "We proposed this open conference to fight against the coup in order to bring together committees from all over the country that are fighting against the coup and in defense of Lula's freedom," he summarizes.

According to Silva, increasing and strengthening these committees is necessary because, "as comrade Gilberto Carvalho said, only with a very strong and combative mobilization, a revolutionary mobilization, will it be possible to get Lula out of prison to be the next president of the Republic, as the vast majority of the Brazilian people want."
