247 - In a new move to get closer to the PSD, former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) received the governor of Sergipe and one of the party's leaders, Belivaldo Chagas, this Wednesday (26), in São Paulo, reports the column. Dashboard, from Folha de S. Paulo. Last week, Lula was supposed to have a meeting with the PSD president, Gilberto Kassab, which was eventually postponed after he was diagnosed with Covid-19.

Lula and his allies have been advocating for the entry of former governor Geraldo Alckmin, considered a potential vice-presidential candidate on a ticket headed by the Workers' Party candidate, into the PSD party. Besides being seen as an important electoral ally, the PSD would also help support a potential Lula government, given that it holds one of the largest blocs in the National Congress.

Belivaldo will not run for reelection in Sergipe, but is expected to launch Congressman Fábio Mitidieri (PSD-SE) as a candidate to succeed him, and this move to get closer to him was not well received by Senator Rogério Carvalho.

"I didn't launch my pre-candidacy without Lula's approval. Certainly, Lula didn't leave room for alternative paths for the PT regarding our candidacy for the government of Sergipe," the congressman posted on social media.
