Ibope director: Marina lost votes to Dilma.

According to Ibope director Márcia Cavallari, the candidate seeking re-election, Dilma Rousseff (PT), benefited from a flight of votes from Marina Silva's (PSB) supporters to increase her lead in the first-round voting intention polls; she says that the former senator's drop was already expected: "Those voters who were initially voting out of enthusiasm are now backing down and assessing the situation."

247 According to Ibope director Márcia Cavallari, the candidate seeking re-election, Dilma Rousseff (PT), benefited from a flight of votes from Marina Silva's (PSB) voters to increase her lead in the first-round voting intention polls.

A new Ibope poll released this Tuesday shows the president with 38% of voting intentions (compared to 36% in the previous poll). She opens a nine-point lead over her PSB opponent, who registers 29% (compared to 30% last week). Aécio Neves, from the PSDB party, remained at 19%, the same percentage as in the last poll.

In a simulated second-round election between Dilma and Marina, the two candidates appear tied with 41% of voter preference. In the previous survey, Marina was ahead of Dilma, with 43%, compared to 40% for the Workers' Party candidate. Between Dilma and Aécio, the president would be re-elected with 46% of the votes, and Aécio would have 35%.

Márcia explained that the former senator's downfall was expected: "Those voters who were there initially out of excitement back down and assess the situation," she said.
