The desperation of the toucans
To what point has the desperation of the PSDB party reached! Now, through one of their deputy leaders in the Chamber of Deputies, Congressman Carlos Sampaio (PSDB-SP), they have filed a request with the Attorney General's Office asking for an investigation into what they consider an attempt at "personal promotion" by President Dilma Rousseff in that speech on the 23rd on national radio and television, when she announced a reduction in electricity bills of up to 32%.
The PSDB (Brazilian Social Democracy Party) claims that the president "used the mandatory use of radio and television networks to promote herself and criticize her opponents, deviating from the scope of this public instrument." In fact, and as was inevitable, they took offense at the references in several parts of the head of government's speech.
For example, when she stated that "(...) in the new Brazil, those who are always against it are falling behind, because our country is moving forward without setbacks, in the midst of a world full of difficulties."
References made by the president led members of the PSDB party to feel targeted.
"Today, we can see how wrong those were in the past who didn't believe it was possible to grow and distribute income. Those who thought it was impossible for tens of millions of people to escape poverty. Those who didn't believe Brazil could become a middle-class country," she said in her speech, in another passage tailored for the PSDB party to take offense at.
More than that, however, what the PSDB (Brazilian Social Democracy Party) really wants is a monopoly on information and to censor the President of the Republic. Imagine, then, the announcement of the Real Plan (1994) and everything that was involved in the media promotion in 1993/1994 of the then Minister of Finance and future PSDB presidential candidate, Fernando Henrique Cardoso! Do you remember? Not to mention the annual resumption – for years and years, even – of official and media praise for the Real Plan.
With this action now in the Attorney General's Office, the PSDB (Brazilian Social Democracy Party) has hit rock bottom.
