Dirceu denies having advocated for a leniency agreement for the PT.

Former minister José Dirceu denied on Monday, the 13th, through his press office, that he had conceived and proposed a leniency agreement for the Workers' Party within the scope of the Lava Jato operation investigations; this information was attributed to him by the newspaper Folha de S. 247 - In a press release issued on Monday, the 13th, former minister José Dirceu denied that he had conceived and proposed a leniency agreement for the Workers' Party within the scope of the Lava Jato operation investigations. This information was attributed to him by the Folha de S. Paulo newspaper on Monday.  

"Any proposal to admit guilt is solely aimed at criminalizing the PT (Workers' Party) with the clear purpose of legitimizing the ongoing coup against Democracy and the Rule of Law," says Dirceu, through his press office. 

According to Folha, the idea reportedly had the support of former treasurer João Vaccari Neto and follows the leniency model used by companies, in which they admit to crimes and are sentenced to pay fines. In exchange, they retain the possibility of entering into contracts with the government, and their executives can request a reduction in sentence or even judicial pardon.read more).
