247 - President Dilma Rousseff once again rejected the possibility of her term being cut short by a coup attempt by the opposition, led by Senator Aécio Neves (PSDB-MG).

After participating in the BRICS summit (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) in Ufa, Russia, President Dilma gave an interview to the TV channel RussiaToday and stated that she will complete her term, despite the drop in her government's popularity.

"Dilma Rousseff will finish this legislative term," Dilma stated. "In any country in the world you have drops in popularity. Mine stems from a rather adverse economic situation. I am certain that this will improve. And what matters is, without a doubt, that we are working hard to get Brazil out of this crisis situation. And that is what we will have as our main focus," the president affirmed in the interview that aired this Thursday, the 9th.

This is the president's second reaction against the coup attempt. In an interview with Folha de S. Paulo, the president criticized the attitude of "a somewhat coup-plotting opposition." "I will not fall. I will not, I will not. This is easy, it's political struggle," she said. According to Dilma, there is no basis for a possible impeachment.

"That's from the point of view of a certain opposition that's somewhat coup-plotting. I'm not going to finish because... To remove a president from the Republic, you have to explain why you're going to remove him. Have they confused their desires with reality, or is there a real basis for it? I don't believe there's a real basis for it." "They don't frighten me," he added.read more).
