247 - With one year to go before the presidential elections, President Dilma Rousseff finds herself in a more comfortable position than her two most recent predecessors, Lula and Fernando Henrique Cardoso, with regard to unemployment and popularity. In December 2005, before running for re-election, Lula's government was considered "excellent" or "good" by only 28%, while FHC's was rated by 37%. According to the latest Ibope survey, Dilma's administration is positively evaluated by 43% of Brazilians and by 41%, according to Datafolha.

Another area where Dilma emerges victorious is the unemployment rate, which at the end of this year stands at 5,58%. This percentage is significantly lower than Lula's 9,8% a year before his reelection bid and the 6,17% of the former president in 1997. However, the data indicates that the GDP performance and inflation outlook for Dilma's government are worse than those of her two predecessors during the same period.

The comparison was made by journalist Fernando Rodrigues, from Folha and UOL, who published a comparative graph. Check out his post. here.
