Dilma promises R$ 6 billion in amendments to the PMDB.

247 – In a new attempt to regain the unanimous support of the PMDB, President Dilma Rousseff released funds from the so-called parliamentary amendments, one of the main sources of dissatisfaction among the allied base with the government.

The commitment was made in a meeting with Vice President Michel Temer (PMDB-SP) and the presidents of the Senate, Renan Calheiros (PMDB-AL), and the Chamber of Deputies, Henrique Eduardo Alves (PMDB-RN).

According to Folha, the Planalto's political coordination team has agreed that R$ 6 billion of the R$ 8,9 billion in individual parliamentary amendments made to this year's budget will be released, divided into three installments of R$ 2 billion in the months of June, August, and November.

At the same event, the president promised to send more legislation to Congress in the form of bills, rather than provisional measures. She cited the Mining Code, which will be submitted with a request for urgent consideration in two weeks.

The relationship between Congress and the Presidential Palace has become strained after the decision by the Senate President, Renan Calheiros (PMDB-AL), not to vote on provisional measures (MPs) that arrive at the House with less than seven days' notice. For years, deputies and senators have complained about the large number of provisional measures issued by the Executive branch. With MPs, parliamentarians have less time to discuss the proposals. In the case of bills under urgent consideration, which also block the agenda after 45 days of processing in each House, parliamentarians have greater opportunities to modify the text.

But the PMDB leaders left the Planalto Palace satisfied with the president's intentions.
