Former President Fernando Henrique Cardoso (PSDB) yesterday countered former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's (PT) statement that he might run for president in 2014 to prevent the return of a member of the PSDB party.
"Those who are worried are not the PSDB members, but President Dilma. She is the one who should be concerned about Lula's stance," stated FHC.
On May 31st, Lula appeared on the "Programa do Ratinho" show on SBT and admitted he might run for reelection if Dilma doesn't want to.
"Lula has always had this somewhat aggressive discourse. It's his style. It doesn't depend on him, the people will decide," said FHC.
According to the Tucano party member, Lula's words cannot be taken "literally".
Regarding the Mensalão trial, which is scheduled to be judged in August by the STF (Supreme Federal Court), the former president advocated for an objective trial without pressure.
