Dilma denounces misogynistic coup: "I was portrayed as cold and hysterical"

“On the one hand, women are portrayed as hysterical, and when they are not hysterical, they are insensitive, cold, and heartless. I was portrayed as a cold, hard, and insensitive person on one hand. 247 - Former President Dilma Rousseff told the American magazine Time that the impeachment process is misogynistic. According to her, there was an attempt to portray her as "a cold, hard, and insensitive person," while simultaneously claiming she was "hysterical."

"Misogynistic, indeed. The fact that a woman became the first female president of the Republic gives rise to a very common, very stereotypical assessment of women. On the one hand, women are hysterical, and when they are not hysterical, they are insensitive, cold, and heartless. I was portrayed as a cold, hard, and insensitive person on one hand. And, on the other hand, I was portrayed as a hysterical person," she said.

"I am being judged for a non-crime. What is happening (in Brazil) is not a military coup, but a parliamentary coup. It is a coup within a process that is affecting the institutions, corroding them from within, contaminating them. So, I believe that this fight requires a weapon. We live in a democracy and we respect democracy. The weapon in this fight is debate, explanation, and dialogue," she concluded.
