Dilma contradicts PR party caucus and divides the party.

Members of Parliament disagree with the president's declared preference for former senator from Bahia and current vice-president of Banco do Brasil, César Borges, for the Ministry of Transport, and are even threatening to join the presidential project of the governor of Pernambuco, Eduardo Campos (PSB).

Dilma contradicts PR party caucus and divides the party.

247 - A deadlock in the selection of the new Minister of Transport has caused a split in the PR, an allied party. President Dilma Rousseff's declared preference for former Bahia senator and current Banco do Brasil vice-president César Borges has angered federal deputies. Divided, part of the caucus is even considering joining the presidential project of the governor of Pernambuco, Eduardo Campos (PSB).

The president of the PR party, Senator Alfredo Nascimento (AM), supports the government's attempt to install Borges. However, since being ousted from his position in 2011 during the administrative "clean-up," he has lost unanimous support within the party.

In this impasse, the government delayed announcing its choice for the Ministry of Transport, which led the party's leader in the Chamber of Deputies, Anthony Garotinho (RJ), to say that "the PR is very hurt by President Dilma."

According to Estadão, in an indirect reference to Campos, Garotinho said that the PR is "indispensable to make the project of the PT's adversaries unfeasible" in next year's presidential campaign. "She (Dilma) doesn't need the PR's time, because she has the PT's, the PMDB's, among many others, but she also doesn't want our time to go to other candidates," said Garotinho, alluding to the 1 minute and 10 seconds that the party has in political TV advertising.
