Cunha: 'PT only wins votes when we feel sorry for them'
The Speaker of the House praised what he considers the "leading role" of the PMDB party and downplayed the alliance the party maintains with the PT in the federal government; "The PT doesn't win a single vote. Only when we feel sorry for them at the last minute," he said during a celebratory dinner; also participating in the meeting were the Ministers of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Henrique Eduardo Alves and Eliseu Padilha, respectively.
247 - The Speaker of the House, Eduardo Cunha (PMDB-RJ), praised what he considers the "leading role" of the PMDB and downplayed the alliance the party maintains with the PT in the federal government. According to Cunha, "the PT doesn't win a single vote. Only when we feel sorry for them at the last minute," he said during a dinner gathering of party members held Tuesday night in Brasília.
During the meeting, which took place in the apartment of Newton Cardoso Júnior (MG), son of the former governor of Minas Gerais, Newton Cardoso, the Ministers of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Henrique Eduardo Alves and Eliseu Padilha, respectively, were also present. Both are members of the PMDB party and part of the first tier of President Dilma Rousseff's government.
"It's great to see this group united. It's a good moment for all of us. Not depending on the PT and the opposition (to win the election for Speaker of the House) allowed the PMDB this political protagonism. And it gave us the freedom to do what we are doing. Just look. It's impressive. Wherever the PT goes, everyone is against it. In the plenary... Impressive. The PT doesn't win a single vote. Only when we feel sorry for them at the last minute," said Cunha.
