247 - The sudden announcement by Sports Minister Aldo Rebelo that he will leave his post to run for governor of São Paulo for the PCdoB party may lead President Dilma Rousseff to support the Sarney family in Maranhão. Aldo had already expressed his intention to leave in a private conversation with the president, but the agreement was to keep it secret.

The communists are trying to reach an agreement for the PT (Workers' Party) to support the candidacy of the president of Embratur (Brazilian Tourism Board), Flávio Dino, who is running for the party in the state and leading in the polls. However, Aldo's departure, which caught Dilma by surprise, suggests the opposite path: an alliance between the PT and the candidate supported by Roseana Sarney of the PMDB (Brazilian Democratic Movement Party), the government's biggest ally at the federal level.

Replacement

The replacement in the Sports Ministry will be complicated. The position should remain with the PCdoB, but the dilemma is who to put in Aldo Rebelo's place. One option is Senator Vanessa Grazziotin (AM), a name that has Dilma's support, but whose vice-presidential candidate, who is from the PP, would bring problems for the party, which would lose a seat in the Senate.

Furthermore, Francisco Garcia, Vanessa's first alternate, is the father of federal congresswoman Rebecca Garcia, a pre-candidate for governor of Amazonas. And Rebecca is an opponent of the government leader in the Senate, Eduardo Braga (PMDB).

The second option is to promote Flávio Dino and remove him from the race in Maranhão, but the government is irritated with the president of Embratur, who has started a war against airlines over airfare prices during the World Cup.

One last hope was to convince Aldo Rebelo to stay, but that's practically out of the question.
